Police were called to 5 Rosebud Ave. around 8 a.m. to investigate reports that someone found an incendiary device. At 1 p.m., Haverhill police said they had destroyed the device in a controlled explosion.

Police originally reported they found two bombs, but in a late afternoon update, authorities amended that to one. Bomb tech also burned other "energetic materials" they found at the scene, the State Fire Marshal's Office said.

No injuries were reported.

Several people on social media reported hearing and feeling the controlled explosion several miles away.

Police arrested a man in his 60s in connection with the bomb on I-495 in Wrentham. He was driving a Freightliner truck. Bomb technicians had to sweep the vehicle before moving it, the fire marshal said.

Police have not released his name but said they are seeking charges in the case.

Reports said the man called his wife to say "I love you" and told her goodbye before his arrest just before 10:30 a.m.

Police are not searching for any other suspects.
